Choosing a Spinning Wheel

I have subscribed to Spin-Off for many years, along with Handwoven, and eagerly await their arrival in my box. Both are great resources for any spinner or weaver.

While I had been considering buying another spinning that would fold up for transport, have a higher wheel ratio than my other wheels, one that is elegant.... I received my Fall 2013 issue of Spin Off Magazine and there on pages 54 to 57 I found "The Updated and Expanded Great Spinning Wheel Roundup".

After comparing the attributes of the wheels listed I settled on the Sonata (see previous post) made by Kromski.

New Wheel!

My darling hubby recently bought me a Kromski Sonata spinning wheel on our trip to Virginia. We made a stop at The Woolery in Frankfort, Kentucky and I fell in love with the Sonata. I also have a tensioned lazy kate, a niddy noddy, extra bobbins as well as some cotton punis to spin. I brought along some BFL roving I bought at Apple Leef Farm that you can see on the bobbin.

The bobbin on the built in lazy kate is the cotton, which spins like a dream. I like to spin fine singles and this wheel does too!
