Card Weaving

The Red River Fiber Arts group met today and our fearless leader, Linda Schuster...on the right,  taught us to do card weaving. We all had a wonderful time and I will be able to use my backstrap loom to do the card weaving, although it would be really neat to have a separate loom. We will see.....depends on how much use/fun I get out of it, lol.

Ooh, I am getting so jealous of all those who actually have a loom to use then doing card weaving! I just do it as I was taught, with one end of the weave constantly fastened to a belt at my waist, and the other end fastened to whatever I have available(f.ex to the back of a chair). But I guess the positive side is that by not using a loom it is very simple to bring the weave with you anywhere you go!

By the way, thanks for an interesting blog! Since you are such an enthusiast I just gotta ask, have you ever done needlebinding?

Thanks for your comments, Fanny. This was my first time with card weaving and I am going to see if I can make it work with my backstrap loom.

As a matter of fact, the lady who taught us the card weaving does nalbinding as well. She brought a project with her last week and showed us how it works. I am going to have to spend some time figuring it out, with Linda's help.
