I first discovered Elizabeth Zimmerman's Stonington Shawl pattern in the Spring/Summer 1985 issue of Knitters magazine and promptly fell in love with the construction. I like not having seams to sew up. I like starting from the corner and knitting the center portion on the bias.
I have made this shawl in different versions many times and this is the second time I have used the Concentric Squares version listed in the magazine. This time around I am using Elsebeth Lavold's Silky Wool in forest green. I am planning on using a lace pattern for the borders, maybe Old Shale or Crest of the Wave.
